It begins every morning.
Every single day. We clear our throats.
We clear them and then speak. Then we wake up the next day, and clear our throats again.
Sometimes, what we allow to flow brings no benefit to those who listen, those within ear shot, those that are nearest and dearest. Sometimes it can be the simplest whispers that change the trajectory of a life around us.
Many people remain silent. They remain so, because of fear of rejection or maybe embarrassment. Maybe they’ve been told for so long that they have ‘nothing to say‘, so they have given up, sat down and just remain muted.
After all, in our culture it’s those with the loudest voices that drown out those with weaker. But many of those may very well possess the wisest words needed. Words that can encourage, inspire and even begin healing.
Clear your throat and speak up, speak out and share what’s within.
As parents, we sometimes can stifle our children’s voices, using our own louder tones to dominate and detour. Our years bring wisdom yes, but even young minds and lives possess gems of insights. Wise parents listen. Wise parents allow, nurture and invite their children to clear their throat and contribute to the conversation at home, in school and in the world. Because they know God designed us to clear our throats.
The world has many voices, saying many things. But what the world needs more – is more who will clear their throat to speak wisdom, counsel and truth into their surroundings. Less yelling and arrogance, but more gentle whispers filled with inspiration. Less critique and ridicule and more hope and love.
More people who have been silent – need to speak up and contribute. Your voice matters. Clear your throat ~ please.
How do you clear your throat?
It begins with humble listening. Listening to a voice that still whispers and offers what no other fully has. The writer in Proverbs describes it this way, as they plead with people to listen to (God) wisdom’s call:
33 Listen to my instruction and be wise;
do not disregard it.
34 Blessed are those who listen to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.
35 For those who find me find life
and receive favor from the LORD. ~Proverbs 8:33-35
Listening to God’s whispers within His Word and to those He has deposited wise counsel into around you, can feed your soul. It fills your heart. It then fuels you to clear your throat and contribute in unique and healthy ways.
You have a voice. God gave it to you.
Clear your throat and allow Him to use your voice…to bring His love, hope, inspiration, wisdom, counsel and encouragement to those around you, those that may just need to hear it from you.
Q) Has God used some people around you to speak into your life recently? How did it help?
