What darkness can’t do…

Simple phrases are the craving of every word architect. Every author.

Every ad agency looking to maximize “the sell.”

Every agent of change wants vision to stick in the heart and mind, not just the short-term memory, to be jettisoned later.

The simple, but memorable nugget of truth is what they seek.

I read this again the other day and I’m struck by the beauty, simplicity and profound truth it conveys. As you mull it over, think about what it looks like to SHINE in a world that needs more light. What might it look like for you to shine this week, next week? How does it impact those that cross your path, those who are closest to you or those who are far away?

“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.”

~St. Francis of Assisi

What does this stir in you? What’s the implications?

John 12:46 – “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.”

Jesus said to his followers: “you are the light of the world.” -Matthew 5:14

Darkness can’t extinguish light. However, light eradicates darkness.

Friends, remember that old children’s song: “I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine – all the time…”

Do that.

  1. I was actually thinking about this very thing earlier this morning while I was having my talks with God. I prayed that I would be the light for others.

“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.”…what does this stir in me? I feel strength from this; my faith in Jesus will protect me from the darkness so that I may be the light for another. There are so many people living in darkness today – wish I could reach them all, but one day at a time. You can be a light for another by your actions alone.

Blessings to you, Amy and your family.
    Trish (and Mic, too!)
